UKM HOSTED THE 27th AUAP BOARD MEETING LAST DECEMBER IN MALAYSIA

27th AUAP Board meeting was held on the 8th of December 2009 at Chancellory Meeting Room, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Selangor, Malaysia. The meeting was presided by Dr. Carmen Z. Lamagna, Vice Chancellor of the AmericanInternationalUniversityBangladesh as AUAP President, and assisted by Professor Dr. Prasart Suebka, Rector of Suranaree University of Technology, as First AUAP Vice President and Professor Dr. Ruben C. Umaly, AUAP Secretary-General.
The search for quality is an endlessendeavor. The vision and mission of
organizations and institutions, which are the inherent guide for the desired
direction or path categorically, speak of quality as its ultimate goal.
The AUAP
Executive Board on 18 July 2009 during its 26th Meeting at SiamUniversity,
approved the recommendation of the AUAP Advisory Committee to establish an AUAPCenter
for Lifelong Professional Education and Languages (AUAP-CLPEL). The Center is to be based at SiamUniversity,
Phetkasem, Bangkok, Thailand with Prof. Dr. Ruben C.
Umaly, the present AUAP Secretary General as its Interim Director. Subcenters
could be established in a key university
in the various subegions covered by AUAP.
Dr.
Pornchai Mongkhonvanit, the President of Siam University and Chairman of the
AUAP Advisory Council hosted the 26th AUAP Executive Board Meeting and the 8th
Advisory Council Meeting on the 18th of July 2009.
The 9th
AUAP Advisory Board Meeting was convened by the Chairman of the Board, Dr.
Pornchai Mongkhonvanit on the 12th of November 2009. It was hosted by Dr. Chantavit Sujatanond, at the Headquarters of the Southeast Asian Ministers
of Education Organization Regional
Institute for Higher Education Development where she has recently been
appointed as special adviser of the Center.
AUAP NEW PARTNERS IN HENAN PROVINCE, CHINA: SIASINTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY AND AN YANG NORMAL UNIVERS
The successfulpartnership of AUAP with Henan Province of China was initiated by HenanUniversity
at Kai Feng city under the leadership ofDr. Guan Aihe, President of Henan University and member of the AUAP
Executive Board for China.

He is a professor at Faculty of Social and Political
Sciences, Universitas Indonesia,
whose expertise is in urban sociology. His studies focus on urban research and
urbanization, globalization, poverty issue and post-colonial society studies.
